Lovely to meet all those who attended our Lime Pointing course this week. We had some naturals on our hands!

We do like the Big Houses, but these compact gatelodges have oodles of history and character too, and I’m sure the gatekeepers of old would have had no end of stories and secrets. Salterbridge (lime and breathable paint), Glendine (lime mortar) and Muckross (Lime and EcoCork insulating plaster)
After a deluge this morning the suns come out in West Waterford showing off the vibrancy of our lime render in Tramore and Tallow. Special mention to John Scully(RIP) and Derek Mangan for the job in Tallow. Lovely walls ‘shame the cemented chimneys can’t match them, c’est la vie.
Not 100% sure where these two lovely Earthborn clay paint colours; ‘Seagull’ and ‘Donkey Ride’; got their names from but maybe they were dreaming of bygone trips to the front strand in Youghal. Enjoy the weekend.
Lovely to spend the weekend chatting to lots of new and old friends at Dublin Heritage Building Show in Merrion Square Park. Not least my co-host and old pal, the ever-young Peter Kelly from Conservation Technology. Also shout out to Shane and the Nolans crew next door and all the BFLI people. It was really
Earthborn Claypaint is nearing 20 years decorating and protecting old buildings in Ireland. This colour; Freckle (back in the day call Sand Orange); was one of our original four colours taking it’s tone from the natural clay ingredient. ‘Still looks great.’
So nice to have a full house this morning at our Lime Rendering and Plastering Course. There’s a real appetite for learning out there at the moment. 3 more course on Decoration of Old Buildings, Pointing, and Insulating Old buildings before the end of the month so it’s all go in Pilmore.
Looking forward to working at the Dublin Heritage building show next week in Merrion Square. Hope to find the time to pop next door to check out our lime plaster and the masterful work by Paul Griffin Plastering (and maybe look at a painting or two).
Nothing much to see here I hear you say, but Finbar and the lads at O’Brien Donnellan are doing some job on the South Mall with new Riven Laths, Hotlime backing coats, Lime putty and Plaster of Paris finish and that’s just the flat work. Those dentils are coming along nicely too.
Some of our rich natural earth colours in Earthborn Claypaint. We like this blend.
